The Lesion

“The walls of the canyon are the grayish color of corpse-flesh, giving the place the look of a giant wound in the earth long left untreated. The paltry olive-colored grass abandons the struggle for life about ten feet from the edge of the cliffs, where one stands contemplating the sheer drop to the midden of rusting weapons of war and the bones that bore them below.”
-from The Travels of a Young Bard by Charmaine

The Lesion is a narrow canyon in The Char and site of the last land war between Thassal and Ackenzal. The soldiers who fought there saw the coming of the Second Starfall in the sky, and soldiers of both sides retreated to the canyon, only to discover there foes vying for the protection of the rocks. The two forces, without any command, butchered one another in the oppressively close-quarters of the canyon in the minutes before the Starfall’s collision, and the slaughter was so even that, in the end, their were enough dead that the living on both sides could fit in the canyon. But this did not stop the fighting until less than two dozen warriors remained, too tired to fight, and, looking up, saw that the starfall had already occurred, as the sun was blotted out from the sky.

The site is now home to a bridge between the Char and the untouched regions of Ganza.
