Kiskalita is a spirit produced by distilling wine, commonly exported from the Autumn Court. Kiskalita produced in Ackenzal is referred to as “branvin”, or burned wine. Branvin is used in the Blossom Night rituals of many regions of Ackenzal to set flowers ablaze.
The taxation of Kiskalita has produced some problems, as most alcohol is usually taxed by volume, so it is often more profitable for The Autumn Court to transport Kiskalita rather than wine. The switch from wine to Kiskalita by the merchants of the Autumn Court led to a tariff on all alcoholic goods coming from the Autumn Court on the part of many Ackenzali duchies, which in turn has led to ongoing trade hostilities between the two nations.
